WILLIAMS, Ariz. - AARP and United Way of Northern Arizona are working side-by-side this year to create broader access to their free income tax preparation programs. In Williams, this means AARP will be preparing taxes for low to moderate income taxpayers instead of the United Way VITA program we have had in the past.
AARP Volunteer Tax Preparers are trained to the most advanced level and are able to prepare a wider variety of tax returns. Some restrictions still apply. Call Eileen Sherlock at 607-0427 to determine if your situation falls within AARP's guidelines. AARP does not limit eligibility for this free service by income or age.
This year a Saturday session will be offered at the Williams Senior Center. Dates, times and locations are listed below as well as a list of documents the taxpayer needs to bring. Some appointments will be taken at the Williams Senior Center location. Translators will be available.
Tax preparers will be available 4:30-8 p.m. Feb. 29 and March 14 at the Williams Elementary-Middle School. Services will also be offered 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3- p.m. Feb. 15 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 7 at the Williams Senior Center, 850 W. Grant Ave.
