Relay for Life meets today

Williams Relay for Life is having a team meeting at 6 p.m. today at Days Inn of Williams, 2488 W. Route 66. Committee meetings follow captain meetings. Luminaries are available for a donation now. Diabetes support offered tomorrow

The Williams Diabetes Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Williams Senior Center, 850 W. Grant Ave.

Speakers Larry and Rose Marie Rincon will discuss problems caused by chronic conditions. The interactive meeting is free to anyone wanting to learn more about diabetes.

Rummage sale benefits Habitat

Habitat for Humanity is having a rummage sale 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and Saturday at First Baptist Church, 629 W. Grant Ave.

There will be lots of home repair items and fixtures in addition to the usual clothes, toys and household goods. Volunteers are needed. Clean, usable donations are welcome beginning at 7 a.m. No large appliances please.

Fundraisers benefit animals

SAVE-Meant to Rescue (MTR) is planning several fundraisers. All proceeds benefit SAVE-MTR and will be used to build an animal shelter in the future.

Bring your pet and enjoy lunch 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday during a Barky-Q at the Williams Recreation Center, 301 W. Railroad Ave. Hamburgers will be offered for $5 and hot dogs for $3. Meatballs will be available for the dogs. Many Tails Pet Grooming will be on site offering nail clippings. The event is sponsored by Cruiser's and Sysco Foods.

A Navajo taco sale will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 10 at the Sultana Theater, 301 W. Route 66. Enjoy savory Navajo taco with all the fixings for $7 or sweet with honey for $4.

Driving safety class June 23

An AARP driving safety class will be held 12:30-4:30 p.m. June 23 at Williams City Hall, 113 S. First St. Call (j623) 696-8992 to register.

Luminarias for sale now

On July 23, the Williams Relay for Life will be held. At each relay, a special luminaria lighting is held to remember those lost to cancer and honor those who've survived. You can help make this luminaria lighting special by making a donation in the name of someone you know who has battled cancer. A bag will be decorated in that person's honor or memory. Golf tournament Saturday

The Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center are hosting a golf tournament Saturday at Elephant Rocks Golf Course. Check in is 11 a.m. and the tourney begins at 12:30 p.m. Enjoy a deep pit barbecue at 5 p.m. with an awards ceremony following.

Teams are urged to enter now and sponsors are still needed. Proceeds will benefit the Williams Aquatic Center. For more information, call Clare Hydock at (928) 814-6754.

Safeway seeks donations

Safeway will be hosting a parking lot sale June 24-25. Proceeds will benefit prostate cancer research. They are seeking donations for their sale. If you would like to help out please call (928) 635-0500 and ask for Kandy Kittsmiller.

Shop at the swap meet

The Kiwanis Swap Meet will be held each weekend throughout Labor Day. The swap meet is located on West Railroad Avenue just west of the Williams Justice Center.

Rain barrels available

The Williams Clean and Beautiful Committee is selling 50 gallon rain barrels for $40. Barrels can be purchased at Williams Mountain Nursery, 225 W. Grant Ave., by asking for Carla. If paying by check, make it payable to Williams Clean and Beautiful.

Rec Center open to families

The Williams Recreation Center offers several evenings of fun for all ages. The Rec Center is located at 301 W. Railroad Ave.

Wii Family Game Night Challenge is held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Family Fun Craft Night is offered 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Each Friday, the Rec Center offers Teen Time 10 p.m.-12 a.m. Teen Time is for all youth ages 12 years and older.

Sweet Lemon needs a member

The Sweet Lemon - a local community service band - is looking for a lead guitar or keyboard player with prior band experience. A summer season resident will work since most gigs are in the June-September time frame. The band plays country, blues and 50s-60s rock. Help raise a Mile of Quarters

The Williams Kiwanis Club is hoping to raise a Mile of Quarters. Through July 5, club members are seeking supporters for the Mile of Quarters campaign. Money raised will be used to support youth activities and scholarships.

The goal is to raise 63,360 quarters, which is enough to make one mile of quarters. Individuals, groups and organizations in Williams are asked to support the campaign by donating a quarter, a foot of quarters ($3), a yard ($9) or whatever they wish to help reach the goal. For every foot of quarters, donors will be given a foot to print their names on.

Support Team Klarisa and Thomas

Relay for Life is just around the corner. Team Klarisa and Thomas will be doing a balloon bouquet fundraiser. You can support this cause by donations or buying tickets at the price of $1 each. Each ticket will represent a balloon, which you can dedicate to someone. Balloons will be displayed at the Relay for Life Rally on July 23.
