WILLIAMS - After seven years of success in their old location, Camp Civitan thrift shop opened to the public last Saturday, offering a more spacious shop and specialized merchandise to suit both locals' and tourists' needs. The shop is now located on 129 W. Route 66.

Dawn Trapp, executive director for the Civitan Foundation, said the move was prompted by an opportunity to be on the main street, coupled with the need for a bigger store.

"We really wanted to have a bigger store to serve more people, we decided that we wanted to capitalize on western themed items, because of where we are," Trapp said. "The opportunity to find something on Main Street was just the right timing."

Even though Civitan now has their own tags and a new brand on offer, they still welcome donations from the public.

"We are absolutely still taking donations. Even though we don't have any furniture right now we are taking large donations as well," Trapp said. "We can't wait to get some more of that."

Camp Civitan's main mission continues to be providing services to people with disability, which extends over to the managing of the store as well, Trapp explained.

"We are also going to have the clients that are in our day program work here during the week as well."

The thrift shop hopes to extend their evening hours to 9 p.m. in the future. Currently, permanent shop hours are still being determined.
