Man found dead south of Williams
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - On Aug. 13, Coconino County Sheriff's Office and Search and Rescue personnel re-initiated the search for missing person Michael Snarski, 43, of Thornton, Colo. During the search, a deceased male subject was located on the South Road approximately 20 miles south of Williams.
Search and Rescue volunteers including a cadaver dog began the search off the South Road in the area where Snarski was last thought to have been. Snarski's vehicle had been located abandoned on July 24 with a note inside indicating he had gone on a "vision quest." A subsequent investigation did not locate Snarski.
On Aug. 13, the cadaver dog led searchers to the deceased body of a male who was seated on a blanket under a tree. Sheriff's detectives located a note pad similar to the one found in Snarski's vehicle, as well as a full water bottle and some items of food near the body. There were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play.
An autopsy was performed by the Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office, and a cause of death has yet to be determined. Sheriff's detectives and the Medical Examiner's Office have tentatively identified the body as that of Snarski.
