WILLIAMS - The Lady Vikings season woes continue with a loss to Ash Fork Sept. 21.

The JV squad fell in two games, 23-25 and 18-25. The Varsity Lady Vikes faired no better losing in three straight, 25-27, 25-26 and 22-25.

Following the losses, the Lady Vikings traveled to the Joe City Tournament participating in pool play Sept. 24.

Head Coach Jennifer Carter said her team started play in the more difficult of two brackets, playing a total of six games and winning two.

"They played well," Carter said. "The games were 26-24, you know 25-23. It was close. The stuff that we worked on, serve wise, serve receive, they really improved on. I was really happy with the way they played."

The double elimination tournament took place the following day. The Lady Vikes took on Ash Fork in the first game. Up 21-9, the Lady Vikings eventually fell 23-25, placing them in the losing bracket.

The varsity squad went on to win the next game against Rock Point but lost their final game against Pinon.

"Again, we did what we set out to do, which was to get our passes and to get our serves," Carter said. "With that we did well. We just couldn't shake out a win."

Carter said Jordan Pettit played well throughout the tourney.

"In that last game against Pinon, I think she had seven kills," Carter said. "She was unstoppable."

The Lady Vikings take on Valley in an away game Friday.
