Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center Golf Tournament and Barbecue

WILLIAMS - The Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center is hosting a golf tournament and barbecue Oct. 2 at Elephant Rocks Golf Course. The day will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start. The afternoon will close with a deep pit barbecue dinner at 5 p.m.

Participants may sign up to play as an individual or with a teammate for the Two Person Scramble. Mulligans may be purchased the day of the tournament. Bring your family and friends to the barbecue, prepared by Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center. There will also be a silent auction of items donated by local businesses and Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center - framed pictures, an afghan, carriage rides, pottery and more.

The pool, operated by the city of Williams was closed in January due to budget issues. The Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center, an Arizona nonprofit and 501(c)(3) was formed to work toward reopening the pool. The group's current goal is to raise the funds needed to repair or replace the pool's environmental control system (heating and cooling the air). The pool was open for six weeks in the summer when the doors could be left open to help with air circulation.

For more information about the golf tournament, to register to play, to sponsor a hole, or ask about tickets for the barbecue, call Kris at (928) 863-2467. A table promoting the event will be at National Bank of Arizona on Friday as the "Business of the Week." Tickets can be purchased there, or register to play or make a donation.
