WILLIAMS - The 2010 Williams High School graduating class can look forward to a fun filled, all night celebration thanks to the Parents Who Care parent organization.

According to Shana Brownlee, the event's coordinator, the graduation night event will not only be fun but safe as well.

"Our goal is to provide a safe environment for these kids for the night," she said. "Keep them busy, give them prizes and take the temptation to go out and drink away."

The all night party will begin immediately following commencement ceremonies this Friday and continue through the night until 6 a.m. The Vegas-themed extravaganza will feature Texas Hold 'Em, Blackjack, Craps and Roulette tables, DJ, and mechanical bull riding.

Brownlee said this year's party will also feature an obstacle course called "Survivor."

"It's going to be a huge balloon tent the size of the skating rink that we used to put up and it's going to be between the chamber and the rec center," she said. "It's a huge obstacle course. The kids can race each other and there is a zip line to go down. It's going to be fun."

Brownlee went on to say a party company out of Phoenix will provide the gaming tables and Survivor course for a fee of approximately $5,000.

Along with the numerous activities, many prizes have been donated, including lap top computers, televisions, cameras, garments, iPods, bicycles and a suitcase of cash.

The event is open to graduating seniors, all students, and their family and friends. Between midnight and 6 a.m., revelers will only be able to leave if their parents are notified. Brownlee said the policy is in place to ensure the safety of those in attendance.

"If the kids leave we will call their parents just to let them know," Brownlee said. "Ultimately, kids need to talk to their parents and parents need to talk to their kids. Parents need to know that their kids are with us."

Volunteers are still needed for the 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. Survivor obstacle course shift. To volunteer, or for more information, contact Joyce McNelly at the Williams High School office at (928) 635-4474.
