FLAGSTAFF - Every February, northern Arizona community members lace up their bowling shoes and take to the lanes for a worthwhile cause at the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff Bowl For Kids' Sake event. The event, which is in its 29th year, will take place from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Feb. 27 at Starlite Lanes, 3406 E. Route 66 in Flagstaff. Companies, organizations and individual supporters participating in the event form teams of five that will bowl for an hour each. To participate, each team raises at least $250, all of which goes to benefit BBBSF's mentoring programs. Companies can also sponsor lanes for the duration of the event.

For interested individuals and organizations, it is not too late to register a bowling team. Participating teams can register by calling the BBBSF office and determining open lane times. Once a team is registered they can visit the BBBSF Web site at www.bbbsf.com and link to the event page where they can set up their own team Web page and begin accepting donations online. The earlier a team registers, the more time they have to raise funds for the registration cost and any extra donation.

"We are so excited for members of the community to come out once again for our most widely attended event of the year, said Merk Perelstein, Executive Director of BBBSF. "We encourage everyone to come out and compete with friends to see who can raise the most for our organization."

In addition to bowling, the event includes regular prize giveaways and a raffle table with items donated by local businesses. The team who raises the most money for BBBSF wins the coveted BBBSF traveling trophy, a wooden bowling pin with the BBBSF logo carved into it. Each year, the Bowl For Kids' Sake event raises more than $40,000 because of its participants that represent a myriad of northern Arizona organizations, businesses and individual supporters of BBBSF. Last year's winner was Decker's Outdoor, an outdoor footwear and apparel company.

For more information on how you and your potential teammates can become involved in the Bowl For Kids' Sake event, contact BBBSF at (928) 774-0649 or visit www.bbbsf.com.
