Annual Easter Egg Hunt returns April 11
Volunteers still needed for hunt

For most, Easter is more than a week away. However, Easter is already here for Guy and Angie Mikkelsen, organizers of this year's Annual Easter Egg Hunt. The couple has been planning the event since February.

This year's Easter egg hunt will be held 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. April 11 at the Williams Recreation Center, 301 W. Railroad Ave. The Mikkelsens invite everyone to enjoy this event.

A welcome and introduction with the Easter Bunny in the "big basket" ramada will kick off the event. The Wild West Junction cowboys will perform a short cowboy skit prior to the hunt.

Three egg hunts will be done in the youngest to oldest order. The three age groups include walking children through age three; ages four to six; and, seven- to nine-year olds.

For those ages 10-13, a "zone" with basketball and football throws will be offered. This age group will win candy and prizes. There will be "run, run as fast as you can" gingerbread man races for the younger participants. In this race, participants have to race with gingerbread man cookies on their heads. All participants will win gingerbread cookies.

Another feature offered in the "zone" will be the pie throw/chocolate syrup squirt. One age group will each be invited to throw a pie and squirt a two-foot tube full of chocolate syrup at a willing volunteer. Following the egg hunts, the "zone" and race areas will be open as well as the inside of the Rec Center, where a table with coloring and foam crafts will be available.

Free food will be available. Items on the menu include hot dogs, chicken fingers, chili, baked beans, kosher pickles, potato chips, sliced peaches and applesauce. Drinks will be served and include bottled water, Gatorade and soda.

A free swim will be offered 1-4 p.m. at the Williams Aquatic Center. The free swim is sponsored by the city of Williams.

Shawn Cureton of Old Trails has donated a barbecue grill valued at $300 that will be raffled off during the egg hunt. Tickets can be purchased that day for $2 each or three for $5. Many local merchants have donated certificates for ice cream cones or soda that will be hidden in eggs.
