Residents of the north side of town, who have felt more than a little uneasy over the distance which had to be traveled by the fire trucks, and the possibility of property being destroyed if the Santa Fe crossing were blocked, were pleased this week to learn that the small fire truck is to be permanently located on the north side of the tracks. A building is now under construction on the Santa Fe lot just south of the old Gilson garage, and the truck will be housed there.

As of Friday, Aug. 7, shaving permits will be available from any member of the Bill Williams Mountain Men at a price of $2. All male residents of Williams are urged to start growing beards for the Whiskerino Contest rodeo weekend. All those not wanting to grow them should buy permits to avoid fines.

Labor Day rodeo queen tryouts will be held this Saturday at the rodeo grounds. Two local girls, Miss Robynn Smith and Miss Cathy Chapman will be competing along with several other contestants from throughout the state.
