The Lady Vikes played a strong season of basketball for Williams High School, ending their season at the recent state playoffs. The Ladies ended their season 17 and six for the year. According to Lady Vikes Coach Frank Schulte, the girls entered the regional playoffs as the number two seed from the 1A North West Division, after the girls lost a coin toss to Fredonia. The girls went up against the St. Michaels Cardinals team. The girls brought in the win with a final score of Williams 43, St. Michaels 36.

"The Lady Vikes were a little sluggish in this one, but were able to finish on top of the back and forth game," Schulte said.

The girls went on to face the Rock Point Cougars, ranked the number one seed from the 1A East, according to Schulte. Despite a valiant effort, the Lady Vikes found themselves unable to keep the Cougars at bay, losing the game with a final score of Williams 43, Rock Point 46.

"The Lady Vikes played hard, but could not finish them off," Schulte said.

The loss put the Williams girls in the three quarter bracket, where they were pitted against the Joe City Wildcats. Playing a fast, back and forth game the Lady Vikes were able to snag the win, ending the game 52-43, Williams.

"The Lady Vikes used a lot of energy during the Rock Point game and it showed against the Wildcats," Schulte said. "It was, once again, a back and forth game that the Lady Vikes finally pulled out."

The win placed the Ladies as the number three seed from the 1A North. They were subsequently matched with the St. Gregory Hawks, the number two seed from the south. Though the Williams girls fell behind in the first quarter of play, ending the quarter 8-15, Hawks, the Ladies managed to rebound in the second. They went into halftime down by three, ending the first half of play with a score of Williams 20, St. Gregory 23. The Hawks dominated in the third quarter of play, however, scoring 20 points in the quarter. Unable to recover, the Ladies lost the game with a final score of St. Gregory 53, Williams 42.
