The Valle-Wood Volunteer Fire Department in Valle is proud to present a tribute to all our fallen soldiers with a Memorial Day Honor Guard event. The tribute runs 2:30-11 p.m. on Saturday at Flintstones in Valle, junction of Highway 64 and Highway 180.
There will be fireworks, a benefit dinner, silent auction, raffle, barbecue, live music and dancing and a beer bar. The Honor Guard will stage a 21-gun salute at 6 p.m. An RSVP dinner and barbecue will be served 3:30-6 p.m. There will be Hopi Tribal dancing during dinner and a Navajo elder woman will be finishing a traditional hand-woven rug that will be sold in the silent auction. The silent auction runs 3-10 p.m. The raffle is offered 6-10 p.m.
Live music and dancing begins at 6:30 p.m. The fireworks display begins at 8:45 p.m. There will be volunteers in the parking lot with donation boots, for those who decide to come late just for the fireworks. The suggested donation is $5.
Donations and all proceeds support the Valle-Wood Volunteer Fire Department and people in need. Valle-Wood serves the local area and 55 miles of highway by providing fire and rescue services. The department has several community needs projects in progress including land and deadwood/tree clearing, fire protection safety checks and provides firewood for those in need.
