Little League begins season
Handful of games played recently

Williams Little League teams kicked off their year with six games April 26. Three games, played by all five Williams majors teams, began the 57th season of games. Majors teams consists of players 9-12-years-of-age.

The first game saw the Williams Dodgers take on the Ash Fork Cubs in a seven-inning game. Both teams scored two runs in the game, though the game was ended short due to the schedule of games for the day. Cody Baxter, Cody Dick, Juaquin Salazar and Jose Acosta pitched in the Dodgers, Cubs game. Organizers said they hope to finish the game later in the season.

Game two saw the Ash Fork Cubs take on the Williams Diamondbacks. Neither team brought in any runs until late in the game, though the Diamondbacks managed to bring some in late, ending the game with a score of Diamondbacks 4, Cubs 0. D-Backs Leo Lopez and Kohl Nixon each pitched three innings in the game to hold the Cubs scoreless. Joes Aguilar and Brian Myers of the Cubs pitched for Ash Fork in the game.

For the third game April 26, the Williams Yankees took on Seligman. The Yankees took the win in the match, with a final score of Williams 3, Seligman 1. Garrett Pettit pitched for Williams, while Dan Solberg threw for Seligman.

Other games

With the season now under way, a number of other games were also held recently. The Indians and the Dodgers played a game April 29, with the Dodgers pulling in a 1-18 victory. Cody Dick and Austin Brandt pitched for the Dodgers, while Ethan Berry, Shauni Leist and Kristian Holmes pitched for the Indians. The Yankees took on the Cubs April 30, ending with a final score of Yankees 9, Cubs 10. The Diamondbacks then tooks a 2-0 win over the Yankees May 1. Kohl Nixon pitched for the D-Backs, while Garrett Pettit pitched for the Yankees.

Three games were played May 3, with the Yankees and the Dodgers getting things started. Brent Perkins and Raphael Duran pitched for the Yankees, while Austin Brandt pitched for the Dodgers. The Dodgers ended up with a 7-2 win in the game. The D-Backs and Indians played next in the three game schedule, taking a 5-4 win over the Indians. Leo Lopez and Christian Campos pitched for the Diamondbacks. Dan Solberg pitched for the Indians. Game three saw a matchup between the Cubs and the Indians. Brian Myers, Jose Aguila and Auggie Castro pitched for the Cubs, while Ethan Berry, Kristian Holmes and Shauni Leist pitched for the Indians. Final score in the game, Cubs 19, Indians 8.

Ash Fork and the D-Backs will play another game today beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Cureton Park. The D-Backs will turn around and play another game tomorrow as well, when they take on the Dodgers at Cureton Park beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The girls, meanwhile, played a couple of softball games to get the season started as well.

The Lady Devils played the Rock Hounds April 30. Jordan Pettit and Jesse Durez pitched for the Devils, while Gabi Pedraza and Yadria Garcia threw for the Hounds. The game ended with a final score of Lady Devils 17, Rockhounds 4. The Lil-lopes took on the Phillies May 1, with a final score of Phillies 19, Lopes 4. More softball games will be held at Cureton Park beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
