Corvette fans in Williams will get a chance to see more of their favorite automobiles Friday as the Bloomington Gold Tours Route 66 Cruise makes its way into town. Beginning 9 a.m. in Seligman, the cruise will take Corvette owners through Hackberry, Valentine, Truxton, Peach Springs and other locations as they make their way to Flagstaff. This year's cruise will mark the fourth annual trip for the group, formerly known as the Corvette N' America road tour. Over 120 Corvettes will zip into Williams for a parade scheduled to begin Friday around 12:45 p.m. The cruise kicks off with a show in Kingman, located on Beale Street next to the Locomotive Park, from 9-10 a.m.

"It's going to be a great event. This is our first time on Route 66 with the tour," said co-organizer Cindy Bublitz, adding that the Corvettes will range in age from new models to old models, including a 1958 Corvette that will arrive from New Mexico.

"We're expecting all different years," she said. "We have a new Corvette that will be coming on the tour. It's the 2008 pace car. One of our participants is going to be picking it up from the factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky."

Wil Cooksey, former 15-year plant manager for Corvette and also from Bowling Green, will attend the Corvette Cruise this year.

"He's going to be our featured guest for the whole entire event," Bublitz said.

The flashy cars will be on display in Flagstaff at the conclusion of their cruise. The vehicles will be located in front of the Flagstaff City Hall building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to Bublitz. Music, vendors and judging for the cars will be held during the event. The cruise will conclude Saturday night at Flagstaff's Little America and will include a guest speaker, raffles and awards.

Bublitz said the Corvette N' America show merged with Bloomington Gold last fall. The group is hailed as one of the largest Corvette tours in the nation.

"It's the longest running Corvette event. They have been going on for about 35 years," Bublitz said.

The Bublitz family has organized the event for four years in northern Arizona. Dwayne Bublitz said he got the idea for the Corvette cruise after attending a number of Corvette shows across the country. Flagstaff and northern Arizona, he said, offered just as much as the other locations when it came to quality locales. His family has been in the Flagstaff hotel business for 27 years. Dwayne and Cindy Bublitz own four Corvettes: a '69 Corvette Stingray, a '91 ZR1, a 2001 Z06 and a '66 Corvette.

"They're just a great hobby. It's fun to get together with people who have the same interests," Bublitz said. "They just enjoy getting together and driving together, driving on great roads like what we have out here."
