Jan. 14, 1943

• Mrs. Jay Lucas says that the last Christmas without snow was in 1929. She says she remembers it very well because it was her first Christmas in Arizona.

50 years ago

Jan. 16, 1958

• Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cureton, Roxena, Roxen, Tom and Dale were Phoenix business visitors over the past weekend. Mr. Cureton brought a three-yard concrete mixing truck back for the Old Trails Lumber Company. Mr. Cureton planes to have his concrete mixing setup all ready to go by the time building is feasible in late March or April in order to be able to provide ready mixed concrete for jobs of all sizes.

Jan. 18, 1973

• At Williams Country Grocery, weekly specials included eight pounds of oranges, $1; bacon, $.69 per pound; giant size Tide detergent, $.79; 10 30-gallon Glad trash bags, $.69; and, Aqua Net hair spray, $.49.
