Editorial: Be a part of the News latest graduation keepsake

May 23 is a big day for the Williams High School Class of 2008. A day many have longed for will finally be here - graduation day. On that day, graduating students will clean out their lockers for the last time as they leave high school to become whatever they have planned.

Our youth are important in our small community. We want to wish them the best and provide them with something that not all WHS graduating classes have had. For the fourth year, the News will create a separate and special publication honoring our grads. As you read this, we are creating something that we hope will be a keepsake for grads and their families for many years to come. The graduation tab will be included in the May 21 edition of the News and will also be distributed at the high school on graduation night.

The grad tab will contain a class photo of the students along with their future plans and favorite memories of WHS. We will also include photos from throughout the year showing the Vikings at their best. This special publication will also honor members of the Williams Middle School's eighth grade class as they are promoted to high school. Parents and friends of the classes of 2008 and 2012 will have an opportunity to be part of this keepsake by purchasing ads letting their students know how proud they are of them. Businesses and anyone who wants to wish the grads well are invited to purchase space in the grad tab. Call Connie at (928) 635-4426 for more information.

Remember that a high school graduation is a one-time event that can never be duplicated. It's not all about the ceremony or the presents. The event is significant in that it marks the passing of one's life into the next phase. Upon graduation, your future is in your hands. Nobody can tell you how, when and where your life can go unless you allow it to happen.

As a 2008 high school graduate, please remember that there is much more in this world than what now sits before you. Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Never make the mistake of accepting the myth that high school was the best time of your life. You can never go back. Please remember that when you are far away and your footing is unsure. Never look back and wish for what was. Look to the future and imagine the awesome adult you will become. Don't give on your dreams until your mission is complete.

Remember where you came from and all the people in your tiny community that are rooting loudly for you. And no matter what comes your way, never give up. With that said, we wish you only the best, WHS Class of 2008.
