Dorothy Ellen Cowper
Dorothy Ellen Cowper, 76, of Ash Fork, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, following a long illness.
Dorothy was born March 15, 1930.
Dorothy and her husband of 59 years, Herbert, while having traveled extensively, have been residents of Ash Fork for 13 years. Dorothy had been an active member of the Baptist Church for many years. She was also one of the first members of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 57, and served as Chaplain for four years.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Herbert; sons Ron and Robert; a daughter, Nancy; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and the community.
Funeral services will be held at the Baptist Church (First and Lewis) in Ash Fork at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007. In lieu of flowers, donations for a headstone may be made to P.O. Box 1035, Ash Fork, AZ 86320, or at the American Legion Post 57 in Ash Fork.
William H. Willsey Jr.
William H. Willsey Jr., 74, passed away Feb. 1, 2007 in Mesa.
The son of William H. Willsey Sr., and Alta May Collison, he was born Feb. 10, 1932 in Windsor, Colo.
He moved with his family to Williams in 1935, where he played high school football and basketball at Williams High School. He received all-state honors in basketball in 1950. He served in the Korean War. He married Sandra Jo Schnell on May 3, 1954. He was employed for 35 years by AT&T. Much of his tenure was spent serving as operations manager in Kingman, Flagstaff, Mesa and Phoenix. He enjoyed doing household projects "his way," dancing and sports and was known to most, if not all, by his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; son Dan and wife Diana; son William L. (Les) and wife Ellen; grandchildren Kyle, Dara, and Tim; and sister Bonnie Bartell and husband Dick of Williams.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m.-noon on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007 at Mountain View Mortuary Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Desert Southwest Chapter, 1028 E. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85006 or Banner Hospice, 1325 N.
