Snow delays openings on North Rim<br>

Canyon, will resume operations when conditions permit.

The first scheduled ranger-led program of the North Rim’s season will be the Evening Program at the lodge auditorium on May 16, at 8 p.m.

The National Park Service expects to have the road to Cape Royal and Point Imperial open by May 27, for Memorial Day weekend; however, continued snowfall and cold weather could further delay those openings. All primitive roads leading to Swamp Point and Point Sublime are not anticipated to reopen for the season until early- to mid-June.

The North Kaibab Trail is open to foot traffic, however, visitors should expect and be prepared for snow and icy conditions.

Shuttle error

In a news release issued by the Forest Service on Tuesday, May 3, incorrect information was given about a shuttle service for Grand Canyon hikers between Kaibab Lodge and the north rim of Grand Canyon National Park. There is no transportation service for hikers to trailheads on the North Rim of the park to or from Kaibab Lodge.
