During the period of June 15-20, the Williams Police Department responded to the following incidents:

Dog locks

Wednesday, June 15

¥ 9:55 a.m. -- An officer responded to McDonald's in reference to a report of a baby locked in a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle told the officer that his dog had stepped on the door lock in the vehicle and locked the doors with keys inside.

The officer assisted the owner of the vehicle, opening the driver's side door with a coat hanger. The baby was in good condition and had only been locked in the vehicle for a short time.

Friday, June 17

¥ 2:07 a.m. -- Johnathon Cole Weatherhead, 25, of Williams, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence to the slightest degree and driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding .08 percent. Breathalyzer tests reflected blood alcohol concentration levels of .129 percent and .132 percent. Weatherhead was cited and released to a responsible person.

Friday, June 17

¥ 9:27 a.m. -- An officer was dispatched to Interstate 40 at milepost 155 for a report of a woman in labor laying on top of her vehicle. When the officer arrived, he found a woman sleeping on the hood of her vehicle. The woman told the officer she was fine and did not require any assistance.

Shot in the eye

Saturday, June 18

¥ 12:06 a.m. -- Officers responded to a Williams residence to a medical assist call for an individual who was shot in the eye with a pellet gun. A 17-year-old male juvenile that resided at the residence told the officer that he had accidentally shot the 16-year-old female victim while changing the weapon's CO2 cartridge.

An 18-year-old male, a witness to the incident, told the officer that he did not really see anything, but that no one had been arguing. The two males admitted wrestling earlier in the evening prior to the shooting.

The 17-year-old male told officers this was not the first time the gun fired while attempting to change a CO2 cartridge. He showed officers a spot on a wall where the pellet was projected from the gun and ricocheted. He also told the officers that one time he accidentally fired the pellet gun into his hand.

The officers took the pellet gun and entered it into evidence until further notice. The victim was transported via ambulance to Flagstaff Medical Center.

Saturday, June 18

¥ 5:36 p.m. -- Andrea Lanice Brown, 22, of Flagstaff, was arrested on a valid warrant out of Flagstaff Justice Court. Brown was transported to the Coconino County Jail.

Monday, June 20

¥ 10:26 a.m. -- An officer was dispatched to a Williams motel for a report of criminal damage. The manager took the officer to a room that had been rented by a Wisconsin woman. The manager showed the officer cigarette burn damage to the bedspread, sheets and mattress cover. The manager estimated the cost of the damage to be between $350-$400.

The officer spoke to the woman who had rented the room. The woman told the officer that she was a commercial vehicle driver traveling on company business. She told the officer that she had fallen asleep with a cigarette and had accidentally caused the damage.

According to a police report, the woman stated she had used her personal debit card to pay for the room and did not have a charge card or other means to pay for the damage. She stated she would contact her employer to see if the company would pay for the damages.

The officer told the manager of the woman's plan and provided him with her company's information. The officer suggested that the manager obtain a formal estimate of the damages, which could be forwarded to the woman's company.
