Diabetes group meets Jan. 6

The Williams Diabetes Support Group will now meet during the day. The next meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 6 at the Williams Senior Center, 850 W. Grant Ave.

Larry and Rose Marie Rincon will lead the meeting. Find out if you are at risk for diabetes during this time of sharing and learning. Meetings are open to everyone and are free of charge.

Collect box tops for education

The Williams Elementary-Middle School Box Tops for Education drive is on once again through March 30. Last year, the school raised approximately $480 from donated tops, and this year, organizers hope to raise at least $600. At a value of 10 cents for each participating box top, that’s 6,000 tops needed.

The school is also collecting Campbell’s Soup can labels for the same purpose.

Drop-off locations include Cookie Dent’s kindergarten classroom at WEMS, and the WEMS main office. For more information, contact Dent or the school at 635-4428.

Class seeking cell phones

The Williams High School Senior Class is collecting discarded cell phones and recycling them as a fund-raiser, and any phone will do. There is a drop off box at city hall by the front desk.

Free GED

classes offered

Free GED classes are now underway. The classes are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Daytime class hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and evening classes are from 6-8 p.m.

The classes are sponsored by Coconino County Adult Education. All classes are held at the Williams Housing Authority building, 620 W. Sheridan Ave.

Women on the Move meets weekly

The “Women on the Move” meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous is held every Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Walker Hall, Second Street and Grant Avenue. The meeting is open to all women whether or not they identify as an alcoholic. For more information, call 635-4449.

Defend yourself

The Williams Police Department is sponsoring Kunkajutai kick boxing self-defense classes on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Williams Middle School.

The classes are offered to all ages.

Aquatic fun opportunities offered

Water kickboxing and Tai Chi classes are Wednesdays and Fridays from 5-6 p.m. Regular aerobics classes are taught from 5-6 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday evenings.
