During the period of Nov. 9-14, U.S. Park Rangers at Grand Canyon National Park responded to the following incidents:

Saturday, Nov. 9

o An emergency medical call was taken at Grand Canyon Walk-In Clinic for a possible physical reaction to an allergy. The person (sex, age not reported) was transported to a medical facility.

o Rangers took a report of larceny at Camper Services, where two loads of women’s clothing were stolen sometime the previous day between 4 and 6 p.m.

o Manuel Guerrero, 20, Phoenix, was cited for open container of alcohol, no driver’s license in possession and no vehicle registration.

o Rangers responded to a report of a large downed tree on Center Road. The tree was found just north of Clinic Road and was moved off the road.

o Rangers responded to a complaint from a Maswik Lodge guest of a possible drunk trying to attempt access to their room.

o An emergency medical call was taken of a 48-year-old woman (site, nature of emergency not reported) who later refused medical transport.

o An emergency medical call was taken of a 19-year-old man (site not reported) who was hypoglycemic. The man refused medical transport.

o An emergency medical call was taken of a 22-year-old woman (site not reported) with a possible cardiac emergency, which was ruled out. The woman refused medical transport.

o An emergency medical call was taken at Grand Canyon Walk-In Clinic of a person (age, sex not reported) who needed air transport. The patient was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center.

Sunday, Nov. 10

o Rangers responded to a call of a vehicle off the side of South Entrance Road stuck in gravel. The motorist was able to get out on his own.

o Rangers responded to a report of illegal bead sales at Moran Point. Rangers did not encounter any illegal activity.

Monday, Nov. 11

o Rangers issued a citation for camping outside designated area. The camper, who was found behind the Verkamp’s store, admitted to the offense.

o Joyce Soares, 19, Grand Canyon, was cited for theft after she allegedly took cash from a guest’s room at the El Tovar Hotel.

o An emergency medical call was taken at Phantom Ranch of a 13-year-old boy with an ankle injury. The boy had injured the ankle three days earlier and was unable to hike out. He was flown out and transported to Grand Canyon Walk-In Clinic.

Tuesday, Nov. 12

o Rangers responded to a report of a visitor feeding ravens at Canyon Village Marketplace. The individual was gone upon arrival.

o An emergency medical call was taken at Phantom Ranch of a 56-year-old man with a possible cerebral vascular accident. The man was flown out and transported to Flagstaff Medical Center.

Wednesday, Nov. 13

o Rangers responded to a report of counterfeit money being passed by a British citizen at the Bright Angel Lounge. A $20 counterfeit bill was seized and the investigation was continuing.

o An emergency medical call was taken (site not reported) of a 17-year-old girl with a rash. Details on possible medical transport not reported.

o Rangers took a report of vandalism at the Grand Canyon National Park Museum Collection where a cabinet was damaged.

o Carlos Acosta, 37, Glendale, was cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Acosta had come to Grand Canyon to retrieve a vehicle from NPS. He had loaned the vehicle to a friend the previous week and that person was stopped for open container of alcohol. The vehicle was impounded because it was uninsured, had expired tags and the driver had no license in his possession. During the vehicle release process, it was discovered Acosta had a suspended license. He was cited and his second vehicle was also impounded.

o Rangers issued a verbal warning in the Rowe Well area for out-of-bounds camping.

o An emergency medical call was taken (site not reported) of a 76-year-old man with pain in his upper right abdomen. The man refused medical transport and said he would be taken to Flagstaff Medical Center by friends.

Thursday, Nov. 14

o An emergency medical call was taken at Bank One of a 32-year-old woman who fainted. The woman was transported to Grand Canyon Walk-In Clinic.

o Rangers provided community outreach at a high-school dance.
