Forest Service offers help
in clearing dangerous debris
The Williams Ranger District will provide residents of Parks and Sherwood Forest Estates the opportunity to dispose of woody materials from their property.
On Aug. 10 and 24 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents of both communities can deposit forest debris at Moonset Pit, a cinder pit located off old Route 66 near Parks. Only authorized materials may be deposited.
The woody debris deposited will be piled and burned next winter.
During the four Saturdays the pit has been open, hundreds of residents took advantage of the opportunity to dispose of woody debris generated. Parks-Bellemont fire chief Mike Martinez said he expects a high turnout for both of the August dates as well.
