Schools seeking budget apporval
Today (July 11), the Williams Unified School District Governing Board hopes to approve and adopt its fiscal year 2001-02 budget amounting to $4,315,158.
This includes $3,933,937 for maintenance and operations. Also, $126,354 is allotted for unrestricted capital outlay, which allows the district to purchase everything from buses to light bulbs. Finally, there is $254,867 in soft capital allocation, which is used for instructional supplies.
The estimated tax rate is expected to be $5.93 per $100 of assessed valuation.
“It’s (the tax rate) subject to go down,” said Renee Rodriguez, district business manager.
The board meets at 515 S. Ninth Street. A budget hearing will start at 7:30 p.m. and the regular meeting will immediately follow.
Last year, the tax rate was $5.39 and the year before it was $5.66. This year’s budget is $195,746 more than last year.
