Mary Satrustegui Gonzalez
Mary Satrustegui Gonzalez, 84, died Dec. 23, 2000 at Flagstaff Medical Center. She was born Aug. 29, 1916 in Flagstaff to Francisco and Josefa Satrustegui. Her brother, Frank Satrustegui, preceded her in death in 1988.
Mrs. Gonzalez attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Flagstaff and later worked as a manager of Babbitt’s Thriftway No. 3 in Flagstaff.
In 1945, she met and married Jimmy Gonzalez of Williams. The couple had three children. Mrs. Gonzalez owned and operated the Canyon Club Bar with her husband and brother-in-law, Haley Gonzalez since 1948. She also owned the World Famous Sultana along with her daughter Teresa Stevens. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Richard Gonzalez of Williams, Loretta Scheier of Flagstaff and Teresa Stevens of Williams; three grandchildren, Richard Gonzalez Jr. of Las Vegas, Jameson Scheier of Page and Mareesa Stevens of Williams; and two great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be said 7 p.m. Dec. 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Dec. 29 at St. Joseph’s. Interment will follow at Williams Cemetery.
