Law enforcement agents arrested 22 people from seven different locations in Williams and in Flagstaff May 1 as part of a seven-month drug investigation.

The arrests took place at 6:30 a.m. Authorities seized "a wide gamut of drugs," including methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, wax (marijuana paste), ecstasy and prescription medications, according to Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Carrick Cook.

One of the houses under investigation on Newton Street had the elements of a methamphetamine lab, Cook said. A hazardous materials team processed the scene.

In addition to the large quantity of illegal drugs, authorities also found scales, currency and ledgers in some of the other houses.

Authorities said as of May 6 they are still processing the seized drugs and the exact amounts are unknown.

"I wouldn't even begin to know where to start," Cook said. "We're talking tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs."

Officials believe the drugs originated from a criminal street gang in Phoenix, but have not released the name of the gang.

The Department of Public Safety's (DPS) Gang and Immigration Intelligence Team Enforcement Mission, the Flagstaff Police Department, Coconino County Sheriff's Office, Williams Police Department, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Postal Inspector and the U.S. Marshals Service all participated in the investigation.

Cook said he expects the agencies to make additional arrests in the future stemming from the investigation.

Those arrested on drugs and weapons charges as a result of the investigation are: Timothy Garcia, Alexendria Gilbert, Alfonso Cortez, Rachel Piere, Joaquin Zabala, Christina Fiester, Cruz Gary, Julia Paredes, Manuel Paredes, Refugio Aguilar, Eduwiges Aguilar, Oscar Lopez-Urias, Clayton Orton, Brandy Davalos, Santiago Davalos, Luis Enriquez, Jacob Holguin, Christopher Dawson, James Hardy, Miguel Ruiz Montelongo, Diego Valdenegro and Jose Chavarria.
