Food Drive May 11

Williams mail carriers will collect food for their annual food drive on May 11. They donate the food to the Williams Food Bank. Last year mail carriers collected about 600 pounds of food. People wishing to donate may leave food in bags in their mailboxes or beside their mailboxes on May 11.

Art Walk begins May 11

The Williams Second Saturday Art Walk resumes in May.  The first Art Walk of the 2013 season takes place May 11, 6-9 p.m.

New this year is the Art Walk Shuttle van, which will run every evening of the Art Walk and stop at every art venue. The Art Walk Shuttle is free to all Art Walk visitors. Williams Second Saturday Art Walks take place May through October on every second Saturday of the month.

Law Day May 13

The Williams Justice and Municipal courts will celebrate Law Day on May 13 by opening the court to students from Williams High School and Middle School. Students will participate in interactive activities with criminal justice professionals that will emphasize the importance of law and order in the community.

The theme of this year's event is "No Courts, No Justice, No Freedom." The public is invited to attend Law Day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Golf tournament June 8

The Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center will play host to its fourth annual golf tournament June 8 at 7:30 a.m. After the golf tournament, a deep-pit beef and pork barbeque with side dishes will take place in the pavilion at Elephant Rocks Golf Course. The barbeque is open to golfers and non-golfers.

Organizers need about five people to help with setting up, serving and cleaning up from about 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Helpers will receive a free meal.

Those unable to volunteer time can help by donating desserts.

Kindergarten and Kindercamp registration

Parents can come to the Williams Elementary-Middle School (WEMS) office and pick up a packet to register their children for kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year. Parents will need to bring a copy of the student's birth certificate, current immunization record, proof of residency and $5 activity fee.

Kindercamp 2013 registration is also open. Kindercamp is designed to prepare incoming kindergarteners for school. The United Way pays for the free program, which is from June 3 to June 28. Parents must return registration forms to the WEMS office by May 3. Space is limited. Students must be registered for the 2013-2014 school year to attend Kindercamp.
