Patriotic items needed

Windows of Inspirations, Inc. and Williams Grand Canyon Masonic Lodge are planning a patriotic window to honor local residents who have served our country in the military. Camp Civitan needs volunteers

Volunteers are needed to prepare Camp Civitan for the season April 30-May 2. Check in begins anytime afternoon April 30.

Room and board will be provided in the dorms. RVs are welcome. Meals are included. To RSVP, call Beverly Whitlock at (602) 702-8975 or (602) 953-2944.

Three Sisters Pit opens Saturday

Starting Saturday, the Williams Volunteer Fire Department will open Three Sisters Pit for disposal of woody debris. The pit will be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Three Sisters Pit is located a few miles north of Williams on Forest Road 124 (Country Club Road) then right on Forest Road 326.

Staffed by volunteer firefighters, the pit will be open on the second Saturday of every month. This community service is provided by the Kaibab National Forest in an effort to assist local residents in disposing of debris from defensible space projects.

Only natural woody debris will be accepted. Items not accepted are: garbage, dimension lumber and other building materials.

Writers' group meets Saturday

Members of the Williams Writer's Group will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at city council chambers, next to the library, in the offices of City Hall, 113 S. First St. Water will be provided for the one-hour meetings. For more information on the group, call organizer Cosette Riggs at (928) 853-0395.

Chat with Hamby Sunday

Williams City Councilman Andrew Hamby will host an informal chat at 1 p.m. Sunday at JD's Espresso, 219 E. Route 66. Everyone is welcome.

Planning begins for 2011 HOG Rally

HOG Rally 2011 proposals are now being accepted. If your business would like to participate or contribute in some way, please contact Sue Atkinson at the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce at (928) 635-0273, ext. 210. The deadline for acceptance is April 30.

Contestants needed for pageant

The Miss Williams Route 66 Pageant 2010 committee is seeking young ladies ages 14-19-years-old who might be interested in competing in this year's pageant that will be held on Aug. 14.
