WILLIAMS, Ariz. - St. Joseph Parish in Williams welcomed its new pastor, Father Kilian McCaffrey, to the church on July 1.

McCaffrey has been ordained as a priest for six years. He comes to Williams from Scottsdale, where he served as pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish for one year. Before that, he served as pastor of St. Vincent De Paul Parish in Phoenix for three years and at the Queen of Peace Parish in Mesa.

When McCaffrey got the opportunity to come to Williams, he said he was thrilled.

"I said, 'I love it up there, it's heaven. It's one of my favorite places in Arizona,'" he said. McCaffrey started spending time in Williams in 2005 when he was in seminary in Flagstaff.

Besides working in Williams, McCaffrey will also be the pastor at St. Anne Mission in Ash Fork and St. Francis Parish in Seligman. Typically, he will be in Seligman on Wednesdays, in Ash Fork on Thursdays, and in Williams on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Outside of his job, McCaffrey enjoys spending time outdoors biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, and climbing.

McCaffrey said he is looking forward to getting to know the people in the communities he serves. He hopes to visit every home in town in the next year, sharing the message of faith, hope and love.

"People are very concerned about the future, but we always have to remember that God is with us every moment of our lives, every breath we take, every heart beat in our bodies, God is with us," he said. "And we can never forget that."

Fr. Kilian will be a pastoral, thoughtful, and joyous pastor of St. Joseph and St. Anne Mission in Ash Fork and St. Francis Parish in Seligman. We have known Fr. Kilian since he was seminarian at Mt. Angel in Oregon. Congratulations to Fr. Kilian and to all the parishioners.
