• A former world champion steer roper, Ezra Cannon, is now a resident of Williams. He is employed here as carpenter for the Santa Fe Railway. Mr. Cannon won the title in 1919, when he tied his steer in 19 seconds. At that time he was connected with the famous Miller Bros. 101 Ranch. He still treasures the silver mounted saddle, which he received as an award.

• Census takers in Williams ask people to please answer to their knock at the door. They wish to assure you the questions asked are not of a personal nature, and all facts confidential. Also, if you have day sleepers, or if a certain time is more convenient to you for the census taker to call, please leave a note to that effect on your door. The enumerators have had some experience with knowing a person is home, yet occupants will not answer the door.

• The Williams Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring the Fourth of July fireworks show again this year. In order to raise money for this they are going to have a barbecue raffle and dance May 17. Watch for further details.
