Letter: Virginia Docherty will be missed by many

To the editor:

On Jan. 16, Williams lost a good friend. She perished in a fire at her house as she slept. Her name is Virginia Docherty. I considered her a very good friend. She was also a fine spokesperson for Williams. She worked at the Williams and Forest Service Visitor Center until 2013 for what seemed forever dispensing tourist information to visitors from all over the world.

I know her as charitable. At one time she headed the St. Vincent de Paul Society. When I was threatened with arrest for residential use while dispersed camping, with nowhere else to go, she took me into her home until I could get an apartment. She gave money to those in need, including me. She always took time to talk to me when no one else would listen. I would do anything for her anytime and did.

We became good friends and I and her friends, family and colleagues will miss her.

Robert E. Robinson

Hello, is there anyway I could get a copy of this article or the newspaper with this article for my dad? This was a touching letter. Aunt Virginia is his sister and we will not be up until later this week. Thank you.
