Letter: Open letter to President Barack Obama

Dear President Barack Obama:

My name is Alyssia Gutierrez. I am 18 years old and a senior at Williams High School. I am writing this letter because I saw my mom upset when she was told to stop working from a restaurant in town.

I live in Williams, Ariz., at the Gateway to the Grand Canyon. When you closed down the national parks like the Grand Canyon a lot of people lost their job here in the little town of Williams. One of them is my mother. She is the only one working in our household. She is supporting seven kids. How can she do that now after she lost her job?

Other families, here in our little town of Williams, also depend on the Grand Canyon for their businesses, such as motels, hotels, restaurants, gift shops, the railway, gas stations, grocery stores, and lots more. These businesses are plummeting because there are no tourists coming here anymore. This causes the businesses to let go of their workers, who are our family and friends.

Mr. President, we need your help. We need you to talk to everyone who is arguing in the government. Please tell them to stop their arguments and think about what is happening to the people that voted for them in office. They should be serving them and not causing more damage in the people's lives by losing their jobs and not being able to support their families.

If you resolve this as soon as possible we will be able live happily together with families and friends.

Humbly waiting for your reply. Thank you very much.

Peace Mr. President,

Alyssia Gutierrez
