7/16/2013 10:15:00 AM Letter: City should replace pool's climate control system before investing in climbing wall
To the editor:
While I'm glad to see there is more money in the city of Williams budget, I'm a bit dismayed by how the city wants to spend it. Why is a climbing wall being proposed at the Williams Aquatic Center when the climate control system is in need of replacement?
Replacing this system (known as the PoolPak), is critical to returning the pool to year-round operation. Without it, the pool will only be open for 10-12 weeks a year, as it has been since 2010.
I encourage the city of Williams to reconsider its decision on the climbing wall and ask that they invest that money into replacing the PoolPak so that our beautiful pool can be reopened yearlong. Once that is done, a climbing wall can be considered.
I also encourage the city of Williams to continue to work with the Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center, who have already raised approximately $7,000 to help replace the PoolPak. Together, we can make reopening the pool year-round a reality.
