10/2/2012 11:12:00 AM Letter: Resident appreciates all who are making no kill animal shelter possible
To the editor:
My husband and I have lived in eight different states from coast to coast before retiring to Williams in 2010. We've moved 27 times and lived in both large and small towns. However when we moved to Williams and joined the local animal rescue group, we began to experience the true meaning of "small town." The patriotism, the kindness and generosity, the friendliness and the concern for one's neighbor continue to amaze us!
So on behalf of Save-Meant to Rescue, I want to thank the people of Williams and the surrounding communities for all their undying support of our animals in need. Those who adopted our animals, donated money, volunteered their time, opened up their homes and especially those who baked fantastic goodies, tacos and enchiladas to the point of exhaustion are the guardian angels of our abused, lost and abandoned animals. Thanks to the hard work of these people, we plan to break ground for Williams very own "no kill" animal shelter next spring. On that day, we will have a celebration where all these wonderful people will be invited to join us in digging that first shovel of dirt and sharing some of those delicious donated treats. May God bless them, the town of Williams and the animals, who desperately need a safe place to stay until their forever homes are found.
P.S. This doesn't mean you are off the hook for future donations and fundraising events!

There is nothing like the love and compassion of a dog. We will continue supporting our very important charity from now and forever. It's nice to know that all are welcome to volunteer. It's fun and who knows, make new friends.
