Falcons continue winning ways
Williams-Grand Canyon News

The Williams Elementary-Middle School (WEMS) Falcons traveled to Page, Ariz. to play the Page Middle School B team Oct. 5. The Falcons won the game 52-0.

Daniel Lopez returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and the Falcons never looked back. Lopez, Diego Pedraza, Jose Pedraza and Michael Waters all had standout performances with running touchdowns. Juan Martinez, Emanuel Flores and Jose Pedraza were also standouts on defense holding the Page team to zero points.

The WEMS Falcons are 6-0 this season with victories over Cottonwood (40-6), Chino Valley (45-0), Kingman Middle School (60-0), Joseph City (32-0), Bagdad (59-18), and Page (52-0).

On offense, quarterback Martin Soriawas was a standout along with running backs Lopez, Diego Padraza, and Chance Pearson and the offensive line, which included Paulino Ayala, Emmanuel Flores, Juaquin Gutierrez, Martinez, Jose Pedraza and Aaron Roush.

Defense standouts included Diego Pedraza and Jose Pedraza. Lopez and Soria and the entire defensive line were the key to the victories by smothering the opponent's defense.

The Falcons face a tough test Saturday against the Page A team at Williams High School at noon. This game will be followed by an even tougher game against Lake Havasu Academy the following Saturday, Oct. 19.

The Williams Falcons invite everyone to come watch and cheer them on to victory this Saturday. This is a great middle school team with a lot of potential to come at the high school level in the next few years.

The Falcons are coached by head coach Tad Wygal and assistants Tiger Grantham, Rick Shipley, Kevin Perkins and Deniz Chavez.
