WILLIAMS - The Williams Elementary-Middle School Cheer Team seven-month season recently came to an end. Half of the team was returning cheerleaders and half of the girls were new this year. The returning cheerleaders learned new and more difficult stunting skills from last year and worked hard every week.

According to cheer coach Lauren Likovich, the new girls had to learn to stunt at a very fast pace to keep up with the returning girls.

"They proved to be very valuable assets on our team and in their stunt groups," Likovich said. "The entire team was dedicated to learn new stunts and achieved so much by the end of the basketball season."

The team began to throw the "basket-toss" at the end of the season. Likovich said the girls grasped the skill very well.

"Watching the flyer get higher and higher each practice was a blast," she said. "Watching the girls learn, work hard, and show their talent to the school has been incredibly rewarding, and an amazing experience to be a part of. I am unbelievably proud of them and their drive has reminded me why I begun coaching in the first place."
