Kaibab National Forest hiring summer interns
Fourteen spots open
Staff Report/WGCN

The Kaibab National Forest will be hiring up to eight students for a summer internship on the Williams Ranger District and up to six students on the North Kaibab Ranger District to assist in the signing of Forest Service roads. The Kaibab engineering roads division is looking for motivated college students who want to make a difference in their communities at the local level. The duty stations will be in Williams or Jacob Lake.

The Forest Service's goal is to sign all of the high clearance vehicle roads within the Williams and North Kaibab districts. The job is physical in nature and consists of installing signs at the intersections of the roads on the Kaibab National Forest. In addition, students may work with GPS units and assist management in collecting field data. The job schedule will be 10 hours per day for four days per week (Monday through Thursday).

To qualify, applicants must be a current student enrolled in a university or community college at a minimum of full-time. Progress toward any type of degree is acceptable (an engineering degree is not required as a prerequisite). The pay is at the GS-03 step 1 rating, which is about $12-plus per hour.

Interested applicants should send a one-page resume and most recent transcript electronically to Lance Haubrick (GIS Specialist/Civil Engineer) at lhaubrick@fs.fed.us. For additional information, please contact Lance Haubrick at (928) 527-3598.
