WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Joshua Dale Riggs of Moab, Utah died Nov. 26 after falling approximately 80 feet while rock climbing near Williams.

Riggs, 32, was rock climbing with his girlfriend near Paradise Forks and Sycamore Falls in the early afternoon.

The woman called emergency dispatchers to report that Riggs was badly injured after falling a considerable height.

U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officers, an Arizona Department of Public Safety air rescue helicopter and Coconino County Sheriff's deputies and a search and rescue technical team responded to the call.

Forest Service officers pronounced Riggs dead when they arrived.

The victim's girlfriend said they had been camping in the White Horse Lake area.

It took about 3 1/2 hours for the technical rescue team to hike to the victim's location, rappel down the rock face and recover the body.

The Coconino County Medical Examiner's office and detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
