WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Community members and officials with the city of Williams and the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce will honor Carol Glassburn this Saturday at noon for her years of volunteer service to the community of Williams.

A large red leaf maple tree has been planted at Ray's Pocket Park in downtown Williams honoring Glassburn. An unveiling will take place at the event.

Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce officials encourage the community to attend and thank Glassburn for her countless hours of service and dedication to making Williams a better place to live. Mayor John Moore, Councilman James Wurgler and Chamber Board Chairman Doug Wells will speak at the ceremony.

Jim Winborne planted the tree and prepared the site. Arizona Public Service donated the tree.

"Carol has been a key volunteer for many years for the city of Williams," Moore said. "It is the least we can do to recognize her efforts."

Glassburn has been instrumental in creating a park along Railroad Avenue and establishing a playground at the middle school. She has been a chairperson for many organizations and committees including the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce, Williams Clean and Beautiful, Williams Needs and Angel, Williams Chamber Ambassadors and the Hog Rally.

Glassburn is also a member of the Williams Rotary and Williams Kiwanis clubs.

Williams is so lucky to have this lady as a resident. If you need something done and things are not going well she is your person. I never in my four years at WEMS had her turn down a request of mine even if it was not "the way we do things " here in Williams. Count your blessings folks, she is one of a kind !
