Williams Ranger District Ranger Martie Schramm illustrates how the forested areas around Williams and Bill Williams Mountain have become overgrown with photos taken in the early 1900's compared to more recent photos. Schramm and Paul Hancock from the National Environmental Protection Agency gave a presentation to the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Aug. 19 on plans to thin areas around and on Bill Williams Mountain to help prevent a future catastrophic fire. Also pictured is Jim Winbourn, chamber board member.

Heather Hermen from Front Burner Media discusses plans for marketing the community of Williams area in the coming year. She stressed the need to use social media, improve the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce's website, attend more trade and travel shows and come up with unique branded advertisements to attract visitors. Hermen has been hired by the chamber as a public relations/marketing consultant and attended the Aug. 19 chamber board meeting.
