WILLIAMS, Ariz. - The Coconino County Superintendent of Schools is seeking to fill a seat on the Williams Unified School District governing board. The seat will be vacant when Board President Kristi Fredrickson resigns at the end of this month.

Fredrickson, who served on the board for two years, is moving to Phoenix to take a job with Northern Arizona University's Arizona K12 Center. Fredrickson lived in Williams for 17 years and taught math and physics at Williams High School for 13 years.

"I'll sure miss it," she said. "I made a lot of good friends and worked with a lot of great people."

Superintendent Robert Kelty hopes to appoint the next board member in December. The term will run through Dec. 31, 2014.

To serve on the governing board, candidates must be registered to vote in Arizona, must have resided in the district for at least one year before the appointment and must not be employed with the district or have a spouse employed with the district.

Those interested in applying may send a letter of interest including the candidate's email address, phone number and home address to Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Robert Kelty. Letters may be mailed to 2384 N. Steves Blvd., Flagstaff, AZ 86004, faxed to (928) 679-8077 or e-mailed to cgarrison@coconino.az.gov.

Once the superintendent's office receives the letter of interest, an employee will mail an application for appointment to the candidate. Letters and applications must be received by 5 p.m. Dec. 1.

An advisory committee of district residents and a current board member will interview candidates and advise Kelty regarding the appointment.

More information is available from Cathleen Garrison at (928) 679-8070 or cgarrison@coconino.az.gov.
