DetailsWilliams, AZ — September 17, 2012 – William’s families have discovered a new wholesome character-development program for their daughters called American Heritage Girls (AHG). To learn more about AHG, Community UMC will be hosting an Information Meeting at 6:30PM, October 18, 2012 at Community UMC, 127 West Sherman Avenue, Williams, AZ 86046-2546 AHG was founded in 1995 in Cincinnati, Ohio to offer a leadership and character development program for girls. AHG has grown from ten Troops and 100 members to more than 13,000 members spanning 41 states and four countries. The organization is impacting the nation with an emphasis on service with more than 100,000 hours in community service last year alone. In June 2009, AHG and the century old Boy Scouts of America signed a Memorandum of Mutual Support, naming AHG as the first all-girls’ organization to enjoy this honor. “AHG is structured much like the BSA and its program is also owned by its Charter Organizations, making the two organizations perfect bookend programs to one another,” says AHG founder and Executive Director, Patti Garibay. AHG received an endorsement from Dr. James Dobson, child psychologist and author. In his book, Bringing Up Girls, Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, said, “I recommend American Heritage Girls enthusiastically to parents who want their daughters involved in a traditional Christian-based program that will reinforce what they are trying to teach at home.” The mission of American Heritage Girls is to build women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. The small, all-girl unit within the AHG Troop structure provides a nurturing environment for learning and building positive relationships. AHG Troops meet together to grow in their faith, practice leadership, experience teamwork, build friendships and strengthen character. Badge work and outdoor activities are enjoyed within age appropriate groups. These Troops are led by dedicated adult volunteers who facilitate the AHG program while recognizing girls’ valuable input. Each AHG Troop reflects the “personality” of their Troop leadership and Charter Organization. Churches and private schools charter AHG to achieve their ministry goals for youth. ### About AHG: For value-minded moms and daughters, American Heritage Girls is the confidence-building extra-curricular activity and inspiring adventure that helps girls realize their potential and become women of integrity because it is a faith-based organization where girls experience new challenges that teach service, team-building and leadership skills in a safe and fun environment For more information:, Facebook at Blog at Local Troop Charter Organization Representative: Steve Andros, 928-635-1420, steve@gren a Patti Garibay, National Executive Director, 513-771-2025, Jody Token, Marketing Director, 513-771-2025,
